Free tandem hire from Charlotte's Tandems: North East Scotland

Overview

We lend, throughout the UK, at no cost (i.e. for free), tandems and tag-alongs (trailer bikes) to (and only to) people with disabilities or additional needs, who are unable to ride a bike safely on their own, so that they can enjoy the wonders of cycling. In other words we provide all-ability, adapted, inclusive cycling for adults and children who are disabled, have special needs, SEN, SEND or impairments, such as Autism, Down's Syndrome, visual impairments, learning or physical difficulties etc. See CharlottesTandems.co.uk for loads more info and to apply. What you need to do: Fill in the Contact Form (on CharlottesTandems.co.uk) and someone (probably Alex) will put you in touch with our nearest Volunteer. Arrange with the Volunteer to collect the tandem or tag-along from them. Fill in a Borrower's Form and hand it to the Volunteer when you collect the bike. Have fun riding the bike. Hire is normally a minimum of two months at busy times, but could be four months or more in quiet periods, typically in winter months. Send us photos (which don't have to show faces) and comments for us to publish on our website and elsewhere. Return the bike in a fit state to the Volunteer at the end of your hire for the next people to ride straight away. What we don't (and won't) do (but our website will point you in the right direction): Lend (or hire) cycles to non-disabled people, even for charity rides. Lend solo trikes. Provide someone to ride with. Give rides.
