Overview
This stunning Village is nestled in its own deep valley which ends at a private bay the tranquil life for Villagers in Victorian times involved serving teas to visitors who arrived by Paddle Steamer and otherwise going about an isolated existence with farms a church and school plus a Large stately home. This all changed in the Second World War when the Villagers were evacuated when the MOD (Ministry of Defence) took it over for practice.They never got to return and it now sits as a reminder of how life changed. It is operated by the MOD and sits in live ranges to this today but you can modify and enjoy the stunning location and the history too.The walk takes in the bay before climbing Inuit he cliffs before dropping back down to explore the Village at your leisure.There is a coffee truck and toilets. You may want to pop back to the Bay for guide walk swim too ( 15 min walk)
