Accessible Rowing At Fulham Reach Boat Club
Overview
Fulham Reach Boat Club (FRBC) is proud to launch its Accessible Rowing Programme for people with visual, physical and cognitive impairments. Based in Hammersmith and Fulham, our award-winning Sport for Good charity offers a welcoming, supportive environment where participants can enjoy time on the water, learn new skills, build confidence, and become part of a vibrant community. In August of 2024 we piloted our first Accessible Rowing sessions, followed by our free 12-week Learn to Row course for 10 adults with visual impairments funded by Love Rowing in 2025. The programme brought together participants, coaches, and volunteers in a powerful display of how sport can be inclusive, life-changing, and community-driven. Thanks to the success of this programme, we have been awarded funding by the National Lottery Fund to kickstart a long term Accessible Rowing project. We will now be offering 5 week Learn To Row blocks, whereby participants will be given the opportunity to learn rowing skills from the land and progress onto the water in grouped boats with the assistance of experienced volunteers. These sessions will run on Wednesdays from 12:15 - 2:15pm. Whether you are completely new to rowing or looking for an inclusive way to get involved, this programme is designed to make the river more accessible to all.
