Overview
Session Title: Inclusive Adult Badminton – All Abilities Welcome (Beginner to strong Intermediate at Alperton) Locations & Times: Alperton Community School Ealing Road, Wembley HA0 4PW. Wednesdays & Fridays, 19:00–22:00 Brentside High School Badminton Greenford Ave, London W7 1JJ. Fridays, 19:00–22:00 (Beginner-friendly / “No Strings” session) Description: Our badminton sessions are designed to be welcoming and inclusive for adults of all abilities, including those with mild to moderate impairments or those returning to physical activity. We aim to create a friendly, supportive environment where participants can enjoy badminton at their own pace. While sessions are not disability-specific, we actively encourage inclusive participation and are open to adapting sessions where possible. Types of Disabilities Supported (with appropriate adaptations): Mild to moderate physical impairments (e.g. joint pain, reduced mobility, previous injuries) Sensory impairments, including hearing loss and mild visual impairment Neurological conditions affecting coordination (e.g. dyspraxia, mild cerebral palsy) Long-term health conditions or chronic fatigue Mental health conditions (e.g. anxiety, depression), where a supportive and social environment is beneficial Participants with more complex needs are welcome to contact us in advance so we can discuss suitability and possible adaptations. Adaptations & Inclusivity: Flexible intensity: players can play socially or more competitively depending on comfort level Rotational doubles format to reduce physical strain and allow rest periods Visual demonstrations and clear communication during coaching Organiser support available throughout sessions Willingness to adapt drills and play style where needed (please contact in advance to discuss specific requirements) Who is it for? Adults (18+) Beginners to intermediate players Individuals returning from injury or looking for low-pressure activity Participants with mild to moderate physical, sensory, neurological, or mental health conditions Equipment & What to Bring: Rackets can be provided if needed Shuttlecocks are provided Comfortable sportswear and non-marking indoor shoes recommended Cost: £13 per session Carers / Support: Carers, friends, and family are welcome Carers may attend to support participants (please let us know in advance) Environment: We place a strong emphasis on community, respect, and enjoyment. Many participants attend regularly, and we aim to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
